knit how to cast on

I wanted to set out some basic knitting in When I have spent hours working on knitting a sweater, I want to make sure it looks as good after a dozen washes as it did the day I was knitting it.

Some yarns are dyed to be either variegated (changing color every few stitches in a random fashion) or self-striping (changing every few rows). In securing the previous stitch in a wale, the next stitch can pass through the previous loop either from below or above. Since a typical piece of knitted fabric may have hundreds of wales, warp knitting is typically done by machine, whereas weft knitting is done by both hand and machine.

The knitting yarn will look like it is at the front and you will now take it to the back and start the second row of transferring stitches to the empty right needle. Knitting a wool blanket will probably take a person many tries, but in the end if they can stick to practicing, they will become a good knitter. It does not require any special or inborn talent to start knitting.

The second type of knitting needles are straight, double-pointed knitting needles (also called "dpns"). When knitting, some knitters enclose their balls in jars to keep them clean and untangled with other yarns; the free yarn passes through a small hole in the jar-lid.

All it consists of is knitting one row, then purling the next, and so on, and so on. Knit it like you would knit any stitch.
