Let me start by introducing you to the five stitch types that I believe are at the very heart of knitting! Let's start with some basic patterns.

If they are not secured, the loops of a knitted course will come undone when their yarn is pulled; this is known as ripping out or unravelling knitting. In knitting, there is the concept of gauge and it means the number of stitches in a given length. The choice available is vast and the decision depends on what garment you want to create.

In weaving, the threads are always straight, running parallel either lengthwise (warp threads) or crosswise (weft threads). A modern knitting machine in the process of weft knitting. You could end up so good at it, and love it so much that you could start your own business.

All it consists of is knitting one row, then purling the next, and so on, and so on. These few basic knitting instructions are the foundation of any project you will ever knit.
